An Upper Saddle River man was arrested for allegedly having about 40 pounds of marijuana and more than $300,000 in cash, authorities said on Monday
Police in South Hackensack saw William Echeverri, 45, involved in a drug sale with Brian Cohen on June 14, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement. When authorities stopped Cohen’s car, they found the Scotch Plains resident had an ounce of marijuana on him.
Police later used a search warrant for Echeverri’s residence, storage and vehicle in Upper Saddle River, authorities said. They found about 40 pounds of marijuana and $317,540 in cash.
Cohen, 43, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, authorities said. He was released with a criminal summons.
Echeverri faces charges including intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and money laundering, authorities said. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a court date.
Both were released for free according to Bergen County Jail Records.
